Real Wedding. Erika and Matt. April 15, 2012. Liberty House. by Karma Flowers

Thursday, September 27, 2012

Well this one has been a looooonnnngggg time coming. But it's finally here. Erika and Matt got married on April 15, 2012, at the Liberty House in Jersey City, NJ. Erika reached out to me just about 2 months before their wedding date and was having a really had time finding someone to execute her vision well. We had a blast putting this together for her and Matt. They are such a fun-loving couple that have truly become our friends.

As far as flowers we used peonies, garden roses, dusty miller, and astilbe and hydrangea in the bouquets. The deconstructed centerpieces included hydrangea, astilbe, garden roses, wax flower, ranunculus, and stock.

All of the pictures are from the great Photography by Orlando in Nutley, NJ. Check out their new website and book them for your next event!

Temporary Fun: Temporary Tattoos by Tattly. Party Ideas. by Karma Flowers

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

So much going on over here at Karma Flowers and Trunk Vintage Rentals, it's hard to find a place to start.

The last couple of weeks has brought about some really awesome opportunities. We curated a vintage wedding at an American Boys Choir School, complete with a farmer's market-type cocktail hour. We designed a baby shower for a Jerseylicious cast member and Glam Fairy herself, Alexa. And we have had the opportunity to sell some of Dave's handmade furniture pieces. . .all of which I want to blog about.

But not today.

Today is Tattly Tuesday.

Tattly is a temporary tattoo company started by a mom, Tina Roth Eisenberg, who was tired of putting bad clip art temporary tattoos on her kids. I think I am as drawn to her story as I am to her tattoos. The website boasts, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem once said, "The best way to complain is to make something." And that is exactly how Karma Flowers was started too{see our story here}.

All the temporary tattoos on the site are designed by  wickedly talented artists & are sold in sets of 2 for $5. Every Tuesday, they feature a new tattoo.
{There are larger set and gift box options as well}.

Here are some of my favorites {some of which I have ordered and already sported}.

How fun are these for a party {for any age} or as an after school surprise for your little one?

DIY Kids Parties {the mini/one project version}. by Karma Flowers

Monday, September 17, 2012

Everyone is talking about fall in terms of design and I am not ready to yet. Maybe it is because we have a bunch of non-fall themed events coming up in the next couple of weeks. I know for sure I will be ready by the time the white pumpkin wedding I designed arrives in October. . .can't wait for that one!

In any case I have been having this calling to have these fun little handmade mini-parties for my son. Really to celebrate nothing expect that we have a very blessed life that should be celebrated. I mean you don't need to always have an official reason to have a party right?

A couple fun DIY kids mini-party ideas I love and thought I would share. . .

Hank and Hunt

You can find this DIY mini party tent over on Hank and Hunt. It's simple and fun and would be adored by kids all ages.

I think people tend to think of wall decals of being a permanent design choice, but plenty of companies are making removeable wall decals these days. They are perfect for a backdrop to a fantastic fete and once the parties are over, they can be removed.

Kids have a ton of old toys laying around the house? How about freshening them up a bit to add a bit a cheer to an ordinary day? I adore these gift boxes made from plastic toys.

Girls Night Out/ Bachelorette Ideas by Karma Flowers

Friday, September 7, 2012

In my past life I would have been all about a girls night that involved lots and lots of drinks, loud music, drinks, being up past midnight, and more drinks. These days, not so much. However, I would be up for a ladies soiree that included any of the following...

I love champagne and I love to really embrace being a girl every now and then. How fantastic of an idea is this pink bottle of Moet & Chandon? Having a bachelorette party? Have all of your girls sign it or better yet it makes a great bridesmaids gift with a personal message written on it from the bride.

How about embracing that inner child? Bachelorette-goers do away with the plastic bridal party pins and tiaras for your night on the town and get crafty! I adore these fantastic hats featured on the Her New Leaf blog. A couple of glasses of champagne and a little party-hat-making could be just the way to start the night.

Wedding photographers these days often offer an engagement session as part of their wedding packages. The couple typically gets an hour long session to have some dressed down {as opposed to the wedding day} pictures taken. I often think you see a lot of personality come through in the candid engagement shoots, but they aren't for everyone. I recently met with a couple that elected not to have their engagement shoot and it got me thinking. What a fun idea it would be to see if your photographer would offer you that one hour shoot to have with your best friend or bridal party instead? There will be so many pictures of you and your significant other taken through the wedding process, that perhaps it might be sweet to commemorate your most important friendships with some stylized, fun pics!

So if the engagement session is your thing and you elect to take those pictures with your fiance, you can still have some fun with pics and your girls. Stickygram.com allows you to upload your Instragram photos and have them made into magnets!!! After a night out with your fav chicks, simply log on to the site, upload your most embarrassing photos and for $14.99 {plus shipping} you will have 9 spicy magnets to adorn your fridge.

Girls it's Friday! Call your besties and get the party going. Enjoy.

Real Wedding, Wedding Flowers. Sage and Mark, The Madison Hotel, Morristown, NJ by Karma Flowers

Sage and her mom, Christie, met me on a particularly rainy day in a small town coffee shop not too far from our workshop.  Sage has just made her way to the East Coast with her adorable son to put the finishing touches on her wedding that was just weeks away. I appreciated the bride's vision and their overall gentle nature. Such a sweet and loving family, we were honored to be a part of their celebration.

We used stock, garden roses, hydrangea and seeded eucalyptus to create these bouquets and spray roses for the men's boutonnieres.
